Lower Respiratory System

The lower respiratory system, or lower respiratory tract, is the lungs and other parts of the respiratory system (breathing) in the lower regions. This is distinguished from the Upper Respiratory Tract. Lower respiratory disorders include lung infections (pneumonia), bronchitis, and similar disorders.

Lower Respiratory System: The part of the respiratory system below the bifurcation of the trachea. It includes the lungs and the parts of the lungs such as the bronchioles and alveoli.1
